Rights of Persons Served
It is the policy of Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois, Inc. that all individuals are treated with human dignity and respect. Participants have all of the rights and privileges due to any person, without regard to race, color, creed, sex, national origin, disability, sexual orientation or physical condition.
Program participants' rights include, but are not limited to the following:
- Informed consent
- Authorize or refuse the release of confidential information
- Concurrent services
- Composition of the service team
- Freely leave the facility
- Access to self-help and advocacy support services
- Access or referral to legal entities for appropriate representation
- Privacy, particularly within the living space
- Making decisions
- Freedom of choice
- Accepting or refusing services
- Freedom from physical or psychological abuse, neglect, humiliation and exploitation, including financial exploitation
- Freedom from unnecessary drugs
- Wearing their own clothing (within the designated dress code
- Choosing providers and personal care services
- Communicating and associating with persons of their choice
- Refusal or acceptance of participation in research and the assurance that if participating in research, that professionally acceptable research guidelines and protocols will be followed
- Uncensored communication
- Managing and using their own money
- Offering complaints and receiving timely and appropriate responses without fear of retaliation
- Participating in program planning, decision making, and implementation
- Practicing religion or faith
- Personal property
- Voting in public elections
- To not be scheduled
- Freedom from chemical restraint
- Access to personal records
- Receiving results of all evaluations, examinations, and tests generated by Goodwill
