Ken Pearson
Forty-three years ago, at age 18, Ken joined the Army and was sent to fight in Vietnam. He returned to his home of Champaign, Illinois a year later. "When I came back, I continued taking marijuana and drinking. The nightmares got worse and I drank more and more to forget...I lost my home and my family and began living with friends or in abandoned buildings". After several attempts at rehab, he was referred to Goodwill. "The home provided shelter, food, clean clothes and the ability to maintain a good appearance, which is important, and that's how I got employed. This place is a blessing". Mr. Pearson was recognized as our 2007 Achiever of the Year and moved out of our home to live on his own in early 2008.
