Deborah’s Success Story
Success Through Support – Deborah’s Story
Sometimes the pride that comes from learning something is more important than what you learned. That was the case for Deborah.
Deborah was employed but yearned for a new career, something more challenging. She had been at her job for many years and never learned advanced computer skills, because she didn’t need to. She knew that to move on, she would need to advance her computer skills. That’s when she enrolled in Goodwill’s free computer classes.
This is where she learned Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Deborah also participated in mock interviews. With her new skills and more importantly her new confidence she applied for a job with the City of Peoria. She now works as a Code Enforcement Officer. Deborah is a great example of how your support helps your community.
Goodwill’s free employment services, computer classes, veterans’ support services and youth mentoring program would not be possible without donations. The donations received are sold in the Goodwill stores and the revenue generated helps pay for these free services. Goodwill, putting people to work with every donation.
