Donations Help the Washington, IL Community!

When you need to clear space in your attic or garage, don’t just give the clothes away or set up a garage sale. Consider a charitable donation to your local Washington, IL Goodwill store! Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois has eleven stores and two donation centers throughout the region. Almost anything you have can be donated: your clothing, kitchen appliances, shoes, even your old car!

The best reason to donate to Goodwill is that it benefits your local community. The items you donate are sold back to the community, and almost all of the profits are used to fund community outreach programs. Then, once income tax season comes around, your donations are eligible for a tax deduction! Charitable donations aren’t just about helping your fellow people, they can help you, too!

Do’s and Don’ts of Donating

No matter where you look around your home, there is something that can be resold at the Washington, IL Goodwill location. Clothing is our main item for resale, but we accept a host of items easily found in your home! Here’s a short list of what you can donate:

Clothing and shoes
Bed linens and curtains
Furniture (dressers, bed frames, tables, chairs)
Jewelry
Housewares, including kitchen utensils
Leisure items: books, movies, music (VHS, CD, DVD format)
Games, toys, and sports equipment
Stereos, radios, and small electronics

Unfortunately, there are also items we cannot accept. Here’s an incomplete list of those items:

TVs
Baby products: high chairs, car seats, etc.
Large appliances: stoves, refrigerators, freezers
Mattresses and box springs
Waterbeds or sofa beds
