Success Through Support – The MVRBC Story
When the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center (MVRBC) decided to open a new blood Inventory Management and Distribution Hub in Peoria, they needed employees. The non-profit would be providing blood and blood components to 11 of OSF’s HealthCare system’s facilities. Their search started with Illinois Workforce. That’s when MVRBC Human Resources Recruitment Manager Jody Bangert, discovered that Goodwill operates an employment program.
Bangert
had no idea that Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois offered such a variety
of employment services. That was until she talked to Johanna Wagner, Goodwill’s
Senior Program Manager. After learning more, MVRBC worked with Goodwill to lay
out a plan.
While
their new facility was under construction, MVRBC set up operations at Goodwill
Commons. At the Goodwill facility they were able to hold interviews, resulting
in 12 new hires. They also took
advantage of its classrooms to train new employees and participated on one of
Goodwill’s hiring events. This allowed them to broaden their employment pool.
With
their new facility up and running, MVRBC is still receiving potential employees
via Goodwill’s employment program. This is an example how not only people, but
organizations can benefit from the services offered by Goodwill. Your donations
make service like this possible. It’s just another reason why donating to
Goodwill means supporting your community.
